This wonderful winemaker David Phinney based in California has been putting out great reds for years now and always has interesting labels besides some great wines. His wines such as Papillon, Palermo and The Prisoner all have scored high ratings and while not the cheapest they are consistently good. His latest offering is no exception. Its called Machete and it ranked number 6 over in Wine Spectator Top 100 Wines of 2016. Originally released for about 45.00 I have seen to due to the sell out and popularity that this wine is fetching 100.00 per bottle. The new label was shot with 12 different photos all different but feature the same ” Quentin Tarantino type ” shots of a racy women holding a machete in various poses with an early 70’s Cadillac Eldorado in the back drop. Nice wine for the holiday or special gift.
