Vinyl New HBO Series

Set in the music world of the 70’s is a new Martin Scorcese and Mick Jagger produced HBO series called Vinyl.  Its slated for February 14th release.  Its stars Bobby Cannavale and James Jagger.  The pilot will be written by Terence Winter of Sopranos & Boardwalk Empire fame.  We will be keeping an eye on this one.  See the article and trailer that was just released.

Academy Award-winning director Martin Scorsese and Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger have teamed up for a 1970s-era music drama entitled Vinyl, set to premiere in January on HBO. Today, the first trailer has been released. Watch below.The show, in development since 2011, focuses on the “drug and sex-fueled music business as punk and disco were breaking out,” according to a press release. Bobby Cannavale (Boardwalk Empire, Third Watch) stars as American Century Records president Richie Finestra, tasked with revitalizing the faltering label. His wife Devon, a former actress and model, is played by Olivia Wilde (HerTron: Legacy). The cast also includes Ray Romano as Zak Yankovich, American Century’s Head of Promotions, and Andrew “Dice” Clay, who will portray the owner of a chain of radio stations. Jagger’s son James appears as Kip Stevens, the frontman of punk band Nasty Bits.Scorsese is set to direct the pilot episode and, alongside Jagger, serves as the show’s executive producers. Terrence Winter (Boardwalk Empire, The Sopranos) has been tapped as showrunner and will pen the pilot’s script.
